Raking is a popular subject these days and I was reminded of something may dad said the first time he saw a wheel rake operate. He flagged the fellow down that was raking hay, walked around the rake giving it a real good going over then asked the fellow, What"s this thing? A new type hay rake was the answer. Dad looked it over some more then said , What do you suppose the the fellow who made the frist one these was really trying to make? A sane man surly wouldn"t expect that thing to rake hay. Dad used mules and horses with a dump rake and hauled in loose hay most of his days. I wonder what he"d think about discbines, V-rakes and some of the other tools of today.
