Finally got a break in the weather and was able to get out and do some swathing. This NH 461 is still working great after 40 some years. It felt great to get back in the saddle again.

With all the rain the windrows sure are nice and thick. I mowed some grass hay on Monday evening that keep on plugging the mower when I was running in the lowest gear. Hope to get it baled tonight!

What baler are you going to use? Did you get the IH one working?

Curt,

I had a great time swathing that field, cut the whole 15 acres without a single problem. The conditions were perfect, no plugs, breakdowns or anything. I cut almost all of it in 2nd high and just sailed right through. What are you using for cutting? I'm looking at a NH 469 that needs some work but I think I'll get it for a decent price. This NH 461 isn't going to last forever and it would be nice to have a back-up. I did get the IH 445 together and I'm going to give it a try, if it acts up I'll just run and grab the old dependable MF 124. Well I better hit the hay, I'm going to bale that in the morning.

Have a gooder!
Ernie Bob

We are still using a Ford 537 9 footer. The field we mowed on Monday was not quite dry last night, it will have to go today. I have been looking for a self propelled 12' unit. No luck at the auctions so far. Most of them are bought and trucked down to Mexico

Mounted a two wheel Farmhand hay turner on the front of my 560 and rigged up some hydraulics to raise and lower it. It worked okay, but the teeth were quite worn so I need to check the prices and get some new. I only have $35 into it, so I think I can spring for some teeth.

Looks about like what I did yesterday with my 460 which is a little older. From what I have been told, not sure if its true but the numbers tell the year of them I.E. a 460 would be a 1960 machine and a 461 would be a 1961. As I said don't know if its true but that is waht a dealer told me
