baling twine ?

While doing research on my baling project, I came across both treated and untreated sisal twine. It appears the treated is to prevent rot, but if you have dry hay or straw like I am planning on baling, where would the rot come from? Does the untreated have a limited shelf life? I am not interested in the plastic twine since I am still finding this in my fields after I had someone else bale straw for me almost 10 years ago. Thanks for your help.

Texas Jim is quite correct, picture yourself grabbing a bale of hay to have it fly apart because mice have chewed through the string..the difference in price is peanuts..Mike in Exeter Ontario

nature will rot twine even with dry hay.

I have some stored hay on a wagon that has treated twine used on it and after 4 or 5 years it still will get week and POP if you are not gentile while handing it ... unteated???? I wouldnt even try that.
