I just picked up an abandoned 271 -- the tin's not pretty, but it's very clean and well cared for on the inside. This is the model powered by a Wisconsin engine which needs many replacement parts, including new belts, fuel line, exhaust manifold, etc. I'd like to ditch the motor and attach a PTO drive assembly. Can anyone tell me which older NH balers can be cannibalized for compatible parts? The conversion seems easy, it's just that "for parts" 271s are rare around here. Thanks in advance.

It should have the long tongue, and I believe any of the older models would work even the bigger 16/\18 like the 78 280 or281 oh by the way which ditch are you going to throw all those engine driving parts into so I can come behind you and get them.

Thanks for the info. I"ll be hunting for something to scavage. The ditch is right outside the barn -- in northeastern Vermont. Don"t know where you"re from, but if I can get the pto setup right, your welcome to come get the motor.
