I am trying to learn all I can about subject baler. It is online over a hundered miles away. I have been over a Massey Ferguson Model 124 from front to back and know it pretty well. I don"t know diddle about a model 12. I should appreciate all the information that can be provided to me about this model. I have requested additional pictures, but I want to know what the baled hay community has to say about this Model 12 before I make a trip or move towards a commitment to purchase.
Thanks in advance for all the inuputs I may receive. Ed

They're still pretty common up here. I own one and have used it in the past but it's on blocks awaiting my 14-T's demise - hasn't happened yet! The slip clutch on the front of the flywheel can give trouble but parts a still available (In Canada anyway) for them. Check the pick-up guide (cast iron) and rollers to see what kind of shape they're in. BTW, there's little difference between the 9, 10, 12, 120, 124, etc. - they're all more or less the same design. If I am thinking about the right bailer it"s an old one, if it was close I might want it, we had one with the bale thrower on it, had rollers, the pullies on the thrower were a problem, and the rollers wanted to burn off the bale twine and plug the thrower if you didn"t have the hay coming in the bailer fast enough after we got the bugs out of it worked great

From the early '60s I think - similar vintage to JD's 14-T.
