I bought a 4-speed Ford to rake hay with. It has a loader on it and it seems like a lot of extra weight to haul. There are 5 pins and the hydraulic pump to unbolt to take it off. How many of you rake with a loader tractor? As sure as I take it off I'll need it the next week.

I have a really quick detachable bucket on my JD 870 with a 440 loader. I take it off for the fields close to home but leave it on if I have to trailer the tractor and rake. I feel better with a little extra counter balance. My rake is a 3 point.

I have used my 801 for rakeing hay for years, one thing I have learned about the time you take the loader off thats when you will need it most. Also depends on if its a pull type rake or 3 point rake. I have both but use the pull type more then the 3 point one. I love to use my old 1935 JD-B to rake hay at least that way it gets a work out once a year.

We had the same problem. What we did was take off the bucket and that helped quite a bit. You will have to secure the hydraulis cylinders to the arms of the loader.
If you will not need the loader, I would take it off though if your ground is rough. The extra weight is hard on the front end of your tractor.
