What are the differences betweeen a NH 270 and 273 square baler? Is the 270 just older?

The 270 is older, but the differences are more than that. The major difference is in the feeding mechanism. The 270 is what we call the "high back" feeder. The tine bar assembly is fastened to a CA550 roller chain that pushes it back and forth. The 273 feeder is known as the "flat track" style. The feeder is fastened directly to the plunger. Which is better? I don't know. I guess it is personal preference. I prefer the "high back" style, however, the flat track is easier to maintain. Keep in mind though, the flat track style will need maintance more often. Steve
