I have an old MF sickle bar mower, that works fairly well, except it always wants to plug at the end of the bar. Should it have a half section on that end or is there something that is adjustable. I don"t know what number MF mower it is, but it is a three point setup, without a pitman arm. Thank you JohnG

John Does the far end "boot" have a ledger plate against which the blade can cut, as all the fingers have.
I am pretty sure that it should have a full section on the end of the blade, the end shear face cuts against the ledger plate in the end "boot" Does the tip of all the cutting blades go exactly in the centre of a finger before returning ?

This gives me something to check into. I have not checked to see exactly where everything ends up on the stroke. How do you adjust the bar if it does not hit the center? I thank you all for the replies. JohnG

Odds are it's a model #41 "DynaBalance". They were made by Vermeer for MF. GREAT mower when it works.... Yes is should/does have a half-section at the end, I've had a couple of 'em. With correct adjustment, they are cuttin' machines....

I am sure they are a very good mower, but it is the proper adjustment that has me puzzled. I don't see anything to adjust at the end of the sickle. I bought this machine last year, and haven't really had a chance to use it until today. The first thing that I noticed was that it did not have a half section on the end, but I don't see where that would cause the problem with plugging that I am having. Thank you for the feedback. there are adjustments as all sickle types knives have... but it has to have a double knife at the end..
