Is there an adjustment for the end play on the drum shaft? I can't get the drum to seal up properly. How can I tell if the brush is worn out and needs replaced?

They usually don't leak much around the drum. Is you seal good?

Allan,
I assume my seal is good. How thick/wide should the seal be from the drum? When I run the blower there is about a 3/8" to 1/2" gap. I can feel air coming out there. I can also push and pull the drum in and out. The whole shaft moves with it.

Nathan,

Naw, that isn't right. The shaft should hardly move fore and aft.

Follow that shaft forward. As I recall, it connects to that front gear thru an extension tube and the shaft is "pinned" to that tube. See if those pins are wobbled out both on the drive gear end and on the drum shaft end.

You might have to pull the pins, rotate the shaft/tube and drill new holes to tighten it up.
