I thought at least one of you old timers would mention the feed mill explosions caused by a piece of wire hitting the hammers.

Feed mills have magnets to catch any stray metal, however they have to be cleaned off regularly to keep working. Heck I even had a wrench returned to me that I had lost in the gravity box when I was picking corn.

This is just a guess.

Wire hitting the hammers caused a spark.
And a spark in dusty conditions is a big no-no.
Dust can be extremely explosive.
Areas around grain silos and feed mills are very dusty places.
