Ran a classified on a corn picker. Guy came,looked,paid. He lives 80 miles from me. I cashed the check and never heard from him again. Three years later I advertised and sold the picker again. Guy lives in Canada and said he would have a trucker friend pick it up. Again no word for three months. Now what?

I am sure Paul is correct regarding the legal issues, but after three years (or three months in this case), I would sell it again. If the guy comes for it, reimburse him.

Dad sold 2 old plows back in the 70's. The goy took one apart & threw the pieces into the back of his loaded grain truck. (wonder if he ever got all the parts sorted out of the corn???) and the other one we never saw him again. I wonder if the thing is still on the scrap pile or if it got hauled away some years ago? :)

There are some interesting legal issues here, esp the international sale. Aranging cheap trucking can often take time. Doing anything before 12 months at least can come back to haunt you.....

Did you state a pick-up date? Should have negociated that & in writing.

Were you able to contact/ communicate with either of these folks after the sale? It is difficult to enforce a 'move by' date after the sale is done, but you can impose a renal fee at some point & try to force the issue.

You will get many different ideas, but as long as nothing was said at the time of the sale, it gets kinda sticky if either side wishes to push _real_ hard on this issue - a lawyer can work the laws to either side's benifit if someone wants.....
