gas in oil onan ccka-s/3522j

I just got from a friend this old lincwelder 225 with an onan motor model# ccka-s/3522j it ran fine for a few then let sit for 2 days tried to start it and it seamed flooded .Apon looking into it i found that there was gas in the oil and it was spiting the mixture out of the crank preassure release? i think that is what it is.any way drained the oil and it was like 50 50 gas oil .Can anyone please help me understand possible causes? thqnk you

There is a good posibility that it is a float adjustment or a stuck float bowl. [just had this happen with my ATV]

I would pop the carb off, and take a look. Also take and bend the float a little so the needle shuts off in the seat a little sooner.

Try shutting the fuel off when not running. I have had several genreators (various brands) that will leak fuel into the oil when not running. Sometimes they do that, and other times they will not do it. Must be at what point the engine stops it's rotation.

Had the same problem on the one I have, the fuel pump is most likely bad, and that lets the gas get in to the oil. I pulled the fuel tank and put it on top of the hood since I didn't want to pay $50 plus for a new fuel pump. Been running it that way for years and it works just as good that way and don't need the pump any more that way also
