I dont know if any of you have this problem but it appears to me that there must be a colony of these things living somewhere here on my place. Ive noticed that they seem to be nocturnal as they do must of their damage at night.
Apparently they have an affinity for 9/16s wrenches, sockets and hammers since I can never find one and must have(had) a dozen or more of each. They also hide my oilcans & grease guns as they are never where I left them and a few days ago one put an oil can in the baler and I baled it ruining a 15 dollar can. Im sure of that. They move tools around to different tractor tool boxes almost daily and apparently mess with equipment or re-adjust at night since I can bale all day after getting started and the next morning it takes a round to get things back to working correctly.
I have a woodland of about 60 acres and Im convinced thats where they hang out so if any of you have had experience with these pesky critters let me know how you dealt with them. Thanks in advance. Bob

Bob: Was running into much the same thing, yesterday. I was building a shelf in my shop. Kept loosing hammer, hand saw and level. Problem is, shop has accumulated just too much. Of course the reason I needed the shelf. Now, no one was in the shop but me and our faithful old cat. I don't think the cat was moving items on me. I'll just charge it up to old age.

On a more serious note, when I was young my dad always parked tractors and haying equipment across the drivway from house, during haying season. From the patio he could relax and look down one equipment late in evening and early morning. Always worked in his greasing and maintainence at same time. My dad would never put his tractors in at night when working them hard. One year, every morning Farmall 130 would have two spark plug wires reversed. First couple of mornings it wasted quite a bit of time. Then dad started checking before even trying to start tractor. His troll then switched to Farmall 300. Dad decided then the troll was someone watching him make corrections. Dad slept out on patio one night, lo about 10:30 pm he heard motion down by tractors. He tiptoed down only to catch a young kid that was working for us during the day. Dad always had 4 wagon loads of hay to be off loaded first thing in morning. I guess the kid decided the best hour of the day was the one spent standing around waiting to get tractors going. The kid got to stand around all summer. Dad put out the word and he really never got any more farm jobs.

I got the real thing here. Parked two well inspected hay racks on the drive one night and when I drove them down the road the next day all of the lugs fell off one wheel at the same time. Couple weeks later the woman next door complained about the dog barking and during the tirade accused me of parking "all that farm junk" on my drive just to annoy her. All this come out of NOWHERE but I guess I know what bridge to look under for my trolls.

The trolls around here reverse direction on ratchets and impact guns when I turn my back. They also sometimes mix up the sockets on the storage racks.
