JD 14T cuts twine

I used my baler a little today, making sure it'll work once I really get rolling. Seemed to work good except the twine on the right side (looking from the rear) knotter is either cut or nicked when it comes off the chute. It doesn't look like it is happening at the knotter, somewhere on the path out the chute. I was thinking it might be rubbing on one of the crossmembers above the chamber and wearing the twine down. I couldn't find anything in my manual about this problem. Can someone help me out?
P.S. I'm running sisal in my baler

our 336 does that to--- found wear in several parts --- replaced or adjusted most-- still has problems on occation and yes plastic was a bit easier

this 336 was always good to tell us when not to bale--- it will bust most of the bales if its a bit to green to keep--

Thanks for the help. I did notice the knives could use a sharpening or replaced, are you able to flip them around, or replace them? I also noticed two grooves in a part which I don't know the name off, sorry. The twine is pulled against this part as the bale is being formed. I'll look tomorrow and see if I can describe it better. Also, what is the differance between 7000 and 9000 twine other than the length of the twine in the package? Would changing over to the 7000 help at all?

7000 twine is fatter and stronger.

Twine quides with grooves worn in them can be hard on the twine.

That's the name of the part, thanks. Are the twine guides still available from Deere or somwhere else? Might as well replace them while I'm not too busy.

I found them for my MF-12 at MF a decade or so ago. I don't know about 14T parts, never tried to buy any. But JD is pretty good about parts for vintage stuff, though I just paid through the nose for a part for my 7000 planter. Only three in the world and the closest one was in Oregon and they let me pay next day air, though I need it by NEXT spring.

You might check at value built also.

not sure of this but.... I was told there are only 3 pattends on twine Knotters... and NH holds 1 and IH holds 2...

I am sure (80%) than my 336 uses the NH our baler needed that same part you need and it was available 5yrs ago... my guess is its around.. just dont let them ship it next day...

As the old 14-T get older they don't work as well with that stuff. I'd try some of the plastic stuff. We just picked up a 14-T today, I promised my self I would never use one again but now I'm back to where I was 10 years ago. Oh well its old like me so I guess I'll get it back up and running I hope. Sure wish I hadn't got rid of my manual. Oh well I'l order a new one tuesday

We just picked up a 14-T today, I promised my self I would never use one again but now I'm back to where I was 10 years ago. Oh well its old like me so I guess I'll get it back up and running I hope. Sure wish I hadn't got rid of my manual. Oh well I'l order a new one tuesday
