Jim, Why do you use a disc cutter and what do you cut with it? ----- ----- -- There are several for sale in my area and I am unfamiliar with them, but looking for a new mowing "gimmic" for lack of other description. I definitely do not like sickle bars period, and rotary cutters are limited in a hay environment (great otherwise). My main cutter is a swather, which does a super job of everything but the sickle gets clogged up in wire grass.....course I could leave the wire grass and come back with the rotary mower. My swather is much wider than my rotary and cuts much faster. ----- ----- ---- How much does the thing tilt the tractor to the side when installed? What kind of breakaway does it have? One pasture in particular has lots of deep (4" to 6" x 3' diameter) "sink holes" that have occurred because black clay likes to shrink in places. So cutting along you would encounter a very irregular cutting surface. How about goint over terraces. Normal contour terraces on a hill side and terraces associated with a pond where you are trying to divert water into a tank? I did notice that the rotating hootus's that the little blades attach to are for sale in TSC but pricey. How often do you have to replace them? How about drive gears that drive these hootus's? How hard is it for one person to mount and dismount to/from the tractor? What does it take to clog them up? Appreciate your comments. Thanks, Mark
