Anyone know a source for sunflower plates for an old IH Fast Hitch 2 row planter? I've been using small flat plates, but with new seed this year, planted WAY too thick. Wonder if soybean plates would work?? Thanks, Cmore

Lincoln Ag Products sells sunflower plates. If you"re planting for wildlife, you"re probably using peredovic seeds. Just call them and tell them what you"re doing and they will recommend a sunflower plate. One thing though, you have to buy a spacer plate for each seed plate because the sunflower plates are so thin. I bought their plates for sunflower, and it worked well for me. My only problem was keeping the weeds out of the sunflowers. Try Prowl + Spartan if you have a sprayer. That does a decent job except on rhizome johnson grass and ragweed. Good luck!

Actually, I'm planting "Clearfield" sunflowers, that are resistant to "Beyond" herbicide. Plant, wait till they're up about 4 to 6 inches, spray with the "Beyond" and no weeds, grass or anything. Problem is, the seed is $160 a bag, and the Beyond in $560 a gallon!! Cmore
