AC Two Row Planter

I recently picked up an AC two row planter. The planter still had the tag on it from the manufacturer. I am not sure if it is the model number or not, but the number is 382548. Does any one know if this can be hooked up to a model B? How do you shut the planter off when you get to the end of the field and the wheels on the planter are still turning? The only seed plates that the previous owner had were for corn. Can I use these for sunflowers, milo, or sorghum? Sorry for all of the questions, but planters are new to me.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Tom

We have a two row pull type AC planter. It runs off a third wheel in the middle. When you pick it up, the wheel doesnt spin. Our IH planter has clutches that engage when you lift. Either way, once you run it, you;ll figure it out. It is a very reliable, has planted 50-60 acres a year for 15 years.

The ONLY 2 row AC planter that I am aware of is a snap coupler that is a mounted planter and that when it is raised the wheels are off the ground and that is what stops the planting action and I have never seen a A C B with a snap coupler hitch, on the very last year production there may have been a few but my gues is that you do not have a planter that will work with your tractor, would need a CA, WD or D series tractor to use that planter and front mount planter would only be a single row for that tractor

Tom is this planter 3 point mounted? Unless it is one of those old check row planters the seed flow is stopped when the planter is lifted and the drive wheels are off the ground. No matter what your planter can easily be made to attach to your B tractor. That looks like a serial # to me. I like AC planters as they are very strongly made and work well. You should be able to get plates from a good seed dealer I got new plastic corn plates for my old AC Planter from one. I have a 4 row that I recently took 2 units off of and made a 2 row 3 point one. Does yours have steel or fiberglass seed hoppers? It may also have fertilizer hoppers on it also and most of those are fiberglass and are bigger than the seed hoppers. E-mail me if you like I can try to help you if I can.
