thinking obout buying a 1979 MF285 it has 4796 hours have not seen it run just seen forsale asking 6900.00 any thoughts or comments on this tractor would be appricated thanks

We've got one, don't know what year but it just rolled 5970 hrs last night and it's still running strong. They're a great all around tractor, we used ours for primary tillage (plowing, disking, cultivating) up until 5 years ago, and have used it for haying since it was new. The price sounds pretty good, they usually go for around $8000 in our area at dealers, if not more. They are extremely common in this area also (NE WI)as almost every farm has one, some have 2.
