Help with N.H. 275 baler

My neighbor stopped by today wanting me to go with him tomorrow to look at a N.H. 275 square baler.Im not familier with this model.Was this a good model,and what years were they made? Any information on this perticular model would be greatly appreciated.The baler is at a dealer with a price of 400.00.Also does this baler make about 75lb bales? Because he does sell hay sometimes. Thanks lot John.

I have a 275 baler. It is a very good baler. It is considered one of the smaller balers I guess. I like mine although she won't eat a huge windrow as fast as I'd like. If everything checks out ok as far as the knotters, knife, plunger, etc. that doesn't sound like a bad deal. I don't know if it has a thrower mine has a model 54A thrower and I had to have work done around there as it started to break loose. As far as when they were made I believe in the early 70's. Steve from New Holland could give you a better synopsis. I have never been able to get my baler to make much over a 40-60 pound bale using sisal twine my bales explode when they hit the back of the hay wagon. Hope this helps. I do usually make a good 30-40 pound bale with the wedges good and tight in the bale chamber.
