We're in dire need of some rain here in my area of the north central ozarks so today I broke out the 1495 for a couple hours and cut about 30 acres of hay. That should do it. Works better than a rain dance for me.
I don't want my investment in that tedder to be wasted you know..... .....

Thanks guys. I'm either jealous or sympathize. I did think cuttin that hay would bring rain and it looks like its gonna work. Probably have to bale and burn just to get it off the field. good luck everyone.....

I'm in SW Iowa, we've had just over 4 inches in the last 2 days, so I can't complain. I drove through MO. last weekend, took 36 from one end to the other, beautiful country down there. Hope you guys get some of the wet stuff down there soon, looked a little dry when I saw people planting.

Isn't it amasing what weather will bo in various places. Some areas have floods while others have drought. Here in Northern Alabama we have been fairly lucky. We have had a mixture of rain then dry weather so the farmers have been able to get their crops planted. I have a pasture of Fescue and red clover mixed that is about 3ft tall and nobody to cut it. Guess I'll have to bush hog it what a waste when others could use it. I have no haying equipt. Isn't that life. God bless all. Norm

I'm here in North Alabama near Florence and it's been dry here now for over a week and a half. I planted about four 5 acres of corn for the deer and turkeys this past Saturday and not a drop. Just some pop up showers around that all missed me. Thundering now but another miss. I'm hoping to get some this weekend. Had pretty good moisture in the ground when I planted so hopefully it will do OK until I get a soaker.

Neighbors 10 miles from me have had 10 inches of rain/melted snow in the past 5 weeks. They have very little planted. That doesn't include the inch & still coming we got this morning. Temp was 41 when I got up, down to 37 now. I can't imagine there will be any good corn coming from the fields that are planted into 40 degree ground for 2 weeks with 6" of water on the surface.....

Way, way, way too much rain. Like always. Hope for a drought.

In a previous post the frosted northern hay was mentioned. Here in NW Iowa our hay was hammered by frost for about five nights with temps all the way fron 29 to 24 degrees. My hay looks surprisingly good with only a few top leaves killed, but it shure did slow down the growth. Some people say it should be cut now to give it a fresh start but it is raining all of the time!!! If I could send you some of our surplus rain I would! Good luck

Some places out in central Nebraska got 10" since Tuesday night - 6" just Wednesday afternoon/evening. Of course, hail and torados came with it, and flash floods..... .

Ya down here at the lake of the ozarks it is getting dry. I sure hope it rains soon, the hay isn't tall enough to cut yet but close. A good rain would really help it get as tall as it should be. At least they are calling for rian in a day or so.

I am a little futher north of ya up around Hermann. It is so darn dry up here the ground is starting to crack up. My hay needs the rain bad. I got one 10 acre field that'll be ready to cut in a week or two but the other 90 or so acres is way off yet due to no rain.

I'm in Springfield, MO and it's dry here too, been some alfalfa cut, a friend of mine just put up his first cutting on 28 acres and said it made 41 1000lbs round bales and 50 square bales about half what it made last year, at least he got it up in real good shape.
