Plow question

I've got a single 16" 3 point plow that we bought used about 20 years ago for the doing an oversized garden..It clearly has IH stamped into the beam,and appears to be a factory built unit.My question,what tractor would this have been meant to go behind?? My first thoughts would be an A,B or a cub,something really small..Just wasn't sure about 3 point availability on them..Anybody got any ideas??

Maybe I should have worded this differently..My point was,by the time IH got around to adapting to the standard 3 point hitch,most tractors were capable of pulling a 2 or 3 bottom plow,just don"t understand why they would have made a single that late..thanks for any ideas..

Tim: IH came with those little British diesels, B-250, B-275, etc about mid 50s, would be their first 3 points. I my area many folks liked those single bottom 16" plows for plowing new ground. By new ground I refer to land that had been pasture for many years, other land that hadn't been plowed in years for various reasons and land being cleared from forest.

They liked those plows for those not so ideal conditions. Many farmers already using multi bottom plows bought one of these just for those troublesome jobs. Plows in those days were about $100. per bottom, new. I remember doing one of these old pastures, sod must have been 4" thick. 2 or 3 bottom plow would drive you around the bend. Drainage was less than ideal. Neighbor came with B-275 and 16" 3 point plow. We had to hook on front with Farmall 300 to turn that sod. Milti bottom plow would just plug up.

Thanks Hugh, That makes sense,hadn"t thought of that..I used it this weekend behind my 424 to turn a garden that had had never been plowed before,sure wouldn"t have wanted a bigger plow for what I was doing..
