Ferguson Rake Question

Firstly, I dragged home a near mint condition Ferguson D-E0-20 hay rake along with a few spare pick-up teeth and the original owners manual :)

I hooked it up to my fine old Massey Ferguson 50 Diesel and it looked GREAT on that old tractor. Engaged the ground PTO, lowered the thing down and raked-up a handfull of dead grass!

My question is - beyond the manual, any tips/tricks for using a 3 point hitch mounted rake such as this?

Also, anyone using one of these with ground PTO or do you use your 540 PTO? I kind of liked how un-harsh the ground PTO was on the rake vs the higher rpm of the 540.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

Bill,

You have the perfect match for hay. Ferguson designed around the ground drive PTO for this rake. It works great in ground drive mode

Just curious ---- Did you also get the tooth straightening tools with your rake ? Have you ever seen them ? They are basically just two lengths of 1" pipe with a hole slightly larger than the diamater of the teeth in the end of each. One also has a standard screw-driver head to adjust the bearings .

I did not get the factory tooth straightener, however, the guy I bought it from made a set from a couple of 1" square tubing.

Hi Bill:

I've got both a DEO-20 and a DEO-25 that I use with my 8N. Can't say there are any tricks to them. I've noticed that I bend teeth with them more than I ever did with my old Ford rake, so be prepared to bend them back again--just like it says in the book. Be careful where you park, though...if you don't park it on level ground, taking if off the 3 point hitch can be a bear!

Do you have any information on manuals for the DEO 25. Looking for belts, clips?
