Seen a complete and nearly mint JD model 39 sickle 7 foot mower last night. It must have been shedded for its entire life and not used for the past 20+ years. While it has the top link attachment point for the three point hitch. There is also a heavy cast block that clamps around each three point lower link. It looks like the mower could also be used on tractors with just the lower three point hitch arms. There is a neat and tidy weld job done on the main casting area that holds the lower pulley/"pitman". Wonder what happened there? Guy at the salvage yard is asking $400.00 Canadian.

B&D: There should have been a letter after the 39. I believe Deere made a narrow "N" for tractors like Fords or Utility Deeres and "W" for the wide wheel Deeres. I have an N that is near mint as well with no welds on it at all. Nice units. BobG in VA

Thanks Bob. I'll have another look the next time past the yard. In the past two weeks all of a sudden and without warning. A Deere 415A 2x14" plough, 620 mounted disk model 620, FB Deere Van Brunt Seed Drill, the 39 mower and now a very clean model 45 combine, a 1950's vintage 4 ton wagon with a sound flat/back rack and a JD 800 swather. Next thing I know a JD 337 baler or something is going to appear? Going have to mount that JD 35 loader on the tractor pretty soon too. Some have been bought and the owners are working hard on convincing me how much the others are required on my place..
