Case Sickle Mower?

Posted a few days ago about my cranky NI sickle mower. Concluded might be time to replace it. Looking around locally, a retired friend who reconditions tractors and implements for resale - bought my MF35 from him and trust him - has a 3-pt case with 6 ft. sickle bar. HE says it's in excellent condition except needs a bushing for the outer end of the pitman. I have another friend who can machine one for me, so that's not an issue. He's asking $350 for it.

However, I've never seen Case sickle mowers mentioned here, so am wondering if that's not a bad sign. Given that I don't have the model number or any other description than above - 3 pt, 6 ft., pitman drive - anybody have any general comments that might help me make a more intelligent decision? Haven't seen it yet, but will take a look this weekend.

Also, any liklihood that the 7 ft. knife bar from my NI mower might be cut down to 6 ft. and work with the Case if I decide to buy it? I have no feeling for how interchangeable things like that might be, but would guess they aren't. Doesn't hurt to ask! :)

Thanks!

We had a an old case mower and it was great. The best part was if you hit a fence post the bar would swing back and then you would just back up, drop it down re-set and you were back to cutting. nothing bent, broke, or busted...
