Can anyone give me info on NH 488 haybine? I found one in paper that owner says is in good condition. When I go to look for it what should I look for that might be wore out and expensive to fix. I can do most of the mechanic work if any is needed.

Thanks for any info

Check out the chain sprockets, the wobble box and rolls. By the way, I have a new (has never been used but has sat around unsold by small dealer) 488 for $5700 in s.w. Pa. New old stock!

Can't say much about them other then look the chains over and make sure they are good, a bad chain can cause a lot of trouble, I know almost had to scrap a 460NH because of a chain problem.

check the rolls. They cost about $1600 and are a pretty big job to put in. I paid $1250 for a pretty nice 488 and I like it.
