Can anyone give me info on NH 850 balers? I found one in paper for $500 but it needs a new electric tie. I think it is a chain baler. Haven't seen it yet. I am told there is company that sells used parts for the machine and they aren't far away. Does this price sound reasonable if the baler is in fair to good condition? I do most of my own mechanic work, but never messed with round balers. Is the tie mechanisim hard to replace? what would be a resonable price for a new or used mechanism.

Thanks for any info

Not to bad a price but the tie thing may cost a little to fix. I use one every year and it has been a good one. Only trouble I have is it makes a very heavy bale, my 801 ford with loader has all it wants to move the bales.

sounds like a fair price to me if it's in working order. new holland still services most parts for them. i own one myself and it has been a good machine. yes it is the chain type. it won't kick out a 1000 bales a year but it handles the 20-30 that i do when i'm trying to beat the rain and don't have time/labor to small square bale.
