I found a Case grain drill that has only the single disc to plant the seed. I will be planting in worked up ground that is sand will this work I have been told single disc grain drills would not plant the seed in the ground that well and throw the seed on top I will be using it to do food plots for small areas only. Thank you

I have used a single disc Case (very old) for 20+ years. Does an excellent job, but would suggest a single gang roller to insure proper closing and good soil/seed contact.

Brian, I agree with Allan and James, for the first hundred years of agricultural equipment drills were single disc and they did a dang good job. Neighbour had a single disc McCormick, more miles on it than a NY taxi cab and it worked great, finally replaced it with a newer double disc version. Mike in Exeter Ontario

Hi Brian,

Plant 'er. Whoever told you that drills need to have double openers needs to sit down and take a load off. :>)

Good advice Allan. In "trashier" ground and if not driven too fast, I think the single disc does a better job.

Way better job, especially if a guy is droppin' a little alfalfa in the process too. :>)
