T7000 JD Planter???

I bought this planter at a auction and got it home with out a book. I have a book orderd from the dealer but they told me it will be a week or two. I wonderd if any one could tell me how to set it up or where to find a chart on witch sprockets ratio to use to get a 15000 pop. This planter is old enough that it still use the plates.

Glad to help- I'm sure my manual has rates for the plate as well as my plateless, but most importantly- you need to post the ROW spacing--30, 36, etc. Then we can give you the sprocket combos. When you use it, make sure you check the seed depth and set it accordingly. Handle at the rear of the row unit does that. Carefully scratch the ground to find the seed and determine how deep it is. 7000 is the premier planter to have. That's why everone else copied it!.

The planter is set for 30" rows and is a 8 row. I am shooting for a depth 1.5 - 2" Thanks for any help you can give.

There are 16, 20, and 24 cell plates available. I'll give you driver/driven sprocket combos for about a 15000 seed rate. 16 cell=30/28. 20 cell= 22/26. 24 cell= 16/22. Your planter should have a decal showing driver and driven sprockets- if not, the driver is at the rear of the transmission, the driven is above and forward. Driven is on the shaft that the row units are driven by. Depending on age of your planter, the sprockets may have HALF as many teeth as what I listed. My second 7000 was an 8-30, but old enough to have those sprockets. Current 7000 has sprockets with twice the teeth. For seed depth, set the control handle about midway and plant a few yards at normal speed- then dig up the row to see how deep the seed is. Move the handle rearward to increase planting depth. Make those adjustments with the planter raised.

Thanks so much for the info this should get me going. I am loveing the internet right now. The Planter came with a Dicky John Monitor I just talked to these guys at a farm show call 3I show and they said the could e-mail me the manual in a pfd file with that and your info it should be to hard to get going next week. Thanks agin.
