I'm looking forward to cutting hay this year with my new SIP 165 drum mower. I've always used a 501 sickle bar in the past. Is there anything I should know about using a drum mower?

I have one just like the one posted. I love it. It's a little tricky to get swung into place as the PTO shaft arrangement isn't optimal when going from road to field position, but once you know how to do it, it works fine.

It makes windrows of the hay, which I don't care for; I end up using a tedder to spread the hay out (I raise very thick alfalfa). I've gone over 6' tall weeds and it eats 'em right up. Virtually clog proof. Simple design. Noisy as a disc mower. I'll think you'll like it.

You must be located in Washington Stare, Oregon or Canada. SIP has a distributor in Abbotsford, British Columbia Canada. I know the SIP drum mower and you will be satisfied with it's performance. It looks similar to our CCM Drum mower.

thanks for the replies. I do live in Washington. I would have purchased the CCM mower which I understand is an outstanding unit and would have been a little less money. The shipping was the major difference.
