Hi , You mentioned in a post Sat. I believe that you have a Deere 37 sickle mower . How do you like it ? I like my Oliver but need something with parts availability ( Read - close by ) . One just came up for sale near me for $450 . How does that price sound ? I haven't seen it yet . Won't be able to till next weekend at the earliest . Can you tell me anything about them ? Thanks and take care ...Randy

Randy: I like the JD #37, it works fine for our use. Parts have been no problem to find. I have not followed the current pricing for the #37's, but I'd want the mower to be in good shape for $450. One found locally would be ideal and cuts out the high cost of today's transportation.

I really like the easy on/off since it's the pull type (got my fill of taking the full mounted IH 27V(?) on/off from my dad's Super M, although it too is a good mower).

I wish JD would have put a slip clutch on the PTO at the drive pulley (like the IH 27V has). The slip clutch would help prevent damage.

There is a lot already written about the #37 mowers in the archives, and I'm sure they've discussed about everything possible about the mower. Give that a look too.
