Windrow inverter vs tedder

I talked to a guy the other day that uses a windrow inverter rather than a tedder. Said he sold his tedder and just uses the inverter anymore. What's your opinions?

Inverters are nice and gentle for turning dry hay over to let the bottom dry before baling and turn wet hay in a swath to dry out the ground. Tedders are much better at drying out rained on hay as they shatter the windrow, sling off water, and through centrifical forces propell the wettest hay the furthest and leave it on top. Tedders also bruise the stems on wet hay increasing drying rate much the same way that an impeller conditioner does.

These 2 pieces of equipment are intended for different uses. He may now be using an inverter but that won't eliminate the need at times for a tedder. Depending on where you are located the need for one may exceed the need for the other. Also remember that for many years hay was put up with neither.

Actually, tedders have been around for a long time. Horse-drawn models existed in the 19th century.

Thanx for the input....think I'll just keep my tedder. Animal, as far as I know an inverter is a towed contraption that picks up the windrow, like from a mower/conditioner and flips it over in a nice neat windrow again.
