I thought I posted this earlier, but maybe I didn't, seem to be suffering from CRS lately. What type of hay mix do horse people prefer in your area? Right now I have 3 small pastures, about 3-4 acres each. One is in a orchard grass, timothy, and brome mix. One is in a bluegrass and orchard grass mix, and the last one I just seeded in an orchard grass and alfalfa mix. I'm trying to figure out what to plant my biggest pasture(23 acres)in next year.

I feed whatever grass mix I can get relatively cheap. I try and keep an eye out for 'decent' hay and coastal bermuda would be ideal. The primary grass type that I've heard of that should be avoided, for horses, is fescue. Maybe it's just an old wives' tale? Tall fescue is pretty rare to non-existant in this part of Texas anyway, though...

Horse folks around us get really worried when they see any clover in the hay. Afraid there critters will drop down dead from clover dust. Easy solution.
