Guys...thanks for the info on my baler. I finally got the senders set pretty close to even today...I ended up using a piece of masking tape to hold the rollers against the belt after releasing the tension springs...this worked good as I could go into the cab and see how they were adjusted.

Another quick question...baled the wheat this morning with dew on it...baler seemed to function normally, but had a problem with it plugging up a couple of times. Windrows did not seem too large to me...a lot smaller than what the guy likes who baled my coastal. Should I have removed the compressor...drive slower...or faster? I was running 1800 rpm in my 4430 in A-2.

Tim,I very seldon run my JD 467 over 1800 engine rpm's.Saves fuel and wear/tear.If ground is smooth enough I run in B1 or B2 no matter what size the windrow and I normally rake a 27 ft. windrow of burmuda.On the wheat faster ground speed will help keep the dry from flacking off the bale as bale is being built.Also you can slow rpm's down as low as 1500 and still make a nice bale,you'll have to adjust the netwrap to compensate for rpm's.Tx Jim

Are the belts in good condition ?
The trick I used to employ with the 550 I had ( 4 foot wide up to 6 foot diameter, though I never went above 5 foot ) was to reduce the pto rpm when starting a bale (say 1200 engine rpm or so you have to experiment), then as soon as the core had formed, i.e. the bale had started rolling, whip it up to 540. It would drag anything in then. As for the compressor rack, I would leave it on.
