Some bad news.

The 245 537B plate reads;
12 cell, Cotton-Soybean-KidneyBean-Navybean, Type 4, 20 thick, 28 wide, 89 long (in 64")

Any way to post a pic of a planter unit. I have no idea on the model but if they are like mine except mounted to a 3pt tool bar, I could atleast give you a model number to work with for parts. Both the corn plates and your soybean plates should use the regular cut off. You should be able to convert it over with the right plates. Do yo have a cotton agitator mounted down in the seed box. It rides on the plate and looks like a 10 leg spider sittin on its side.

As for plates they vary in size a litle by number;

Type 1 plates - Edge drop, flat kernal
245 500B 501B 502B 506B 508B 509B Small flat corn
245 510B 511B Meduim flat corn
245 512B 513B 516B Large flat corn
245 514B Long slender corn

Type 2 plates - Round or tear drop, round kernel
245 523B 524B 526B Small round corn
245 528B & 531B Meduim round corn-acid
245 533B Large round corn-acid

I have no idea what they mean by "corn-acid"??

Well it doesn't look anything like mine. And, I'd be guessen, I dout any thing other than the plates from my book would help ya. I'll be searching for some other info on olivers planters and If I come across anything, I'll post it here on ytm.

Just outta couriousity, do you have a seed box off or do both rows share one???

You guys that may part with plates, if they look like the ones above, post some numbers. I may be interested in some. I wouldn't need 4 per-say, a couple for green beans would be nice though.

I have recently aquired some Oliver planter units that sounds like the one described. White fiberglass bins with a green lid. My press wheels are not spoked, but almost solid and say "action traction" on the side. Has double disk openers. It is a model 343 from the late 60s early 70s. I have a ton of plates and will try to get some numbers to help you out.

You just need to match the seed size to the planter plate. Whatever size you can get / turns your fancy. No right or wrong, other than they need to match. It would be good to have several corn plate sizes, so you have options over the years.....

Back in the day seed was carefully graded. With today"s finger & air planters it is not nearly so important, & you might have to search a bit for a good seed source & some knowledge about plate use with "their" seed.
