My first plow, so don't ask me about the frog, I don't even know what that is. I purchased, and started tearing it down, this weekend. All tires are wasted. What was the original tire size(s)? Is the rear rim(4.00x12) available, or do I cut the center out of the J.D. rim and make one from a IH Cub front wheel? Can I get shims for loose wheel hubs or do you have to make them? Where is the simplest place to get manuals & breakdowns on John Deere equipment. It says NO.44 on the plow, but all the 44's I've seen in YT look different. This is a 2- bottom, 14" hydraulic lift, spoked wheeled, air tired, with a tailwheel on rubber. Thanks for helping a rookie. Bob from Il.

Lots of questions... Most can be answered by getting a parts catalog (from John Deere 800-522-7448) or other source and an operators manual. You say they all look different but then describe a 44, so how are they different? The 44 was available in 4 versions. The 44 (clutch lift) and 44H (Hydraulic, cylinder for lift and depth) both transport on two wheels. The 44A (clutch lift) and 44AH (Hydraulic) both have tail wheel linkage that lifts and transports on three wheels. All had steel wheels or rubber tires with spokes. So get the books and have at it, enjoy. Bob

The problem I am having is that the newly
purchased parts book from deere doesnt list
the part #'s for the Moldboards or points.
The dealer looked up the moldboards ,but they
are the wrong ones.Does anyone know these #'s.
Dave

There is also the small frame or large frame versions. The small frame will measure 13" beam to beam for 12" with the shanks turned in or 14" with them turned out, the large frame will measure 15" for 14" or 16" bottoms with the shanks turned acording

I didn't mention the frame sizes because it is not obvious when just identifying the plow but you are correct, except that there were three sizes, the ones you mentioned and the 10"-12" size. Lots of variations on that plow, imagine a guy with a set of 12 on steel and 12 more on rubber tires, all different! Then start changing bottom styles....
