Truck hitch to tow implements

Right now I use a Reese hitch with the ball removed to tow implements with my truck. This is getting pretty old, as the hole is enough bigger than a standard drawbar hole that there is too much slop and clunking of the drivetrain, which can't be good for my truck.

I'm sure I've seen somewhere a special drawbar hitch that is cushioned, and has the right size hole.

Does anybody know who makes these ? My searches have so far only turned up the exact opposite case - 3 point adapters to allow a tractor act like a truck with a 2 inch receiver hitch.

Thanks !

I like the P&H bumpers they are better built than a DMI any day and they hold up real well saw ones 25 years old still working like new.

Why not just buy a cushioned 2" reciever mount and put a bushing in the hole to get it to the correct size. Motion Industries would probably have the bushing. Or if you know anyone with a lathe they could make on e real easy and then weld it in or press fit

Around here 80% of farm and fertilizer dealer trucks have DMI bumpers on them and although some have seen alot of abuse I have yet to see one with a bent drawbar. We have two of the older style DMI bumpers, one's on a '79 F-250 and the other is on a 2 1/2 ton IH straight truck, we've used both of these to pull whatever the trucks can get moving and they've done a great job. I recently bought a '99 Dodge 2500 4x4 diesel and I replaced the stock reciever hitch with a DMI reciever hitch that has the cushion and swing/extend features of their drawbar hitches but at a lower price. I bought one of our DMI's used for $100 but that is one of the cheapest I've found. The one I put on my Dodge was around $700 new but if you do much pulling it's money well spent.

I have a cushioned receiver hitch for mine, I forget the brand off hand though. Maybe convert-a-ball. It has a 1" hole in it, I use a 7/8" pin. I pull 5-8 ton regularily with it, very smooth pulling.

It beats paying through the nose for a cushioned bumper. Donovan from Wisconsin

Most of the farmers around "here" use a heavy duty bumper designed for towing; Schucks and DMI come to mind, 'though there are others..... ...
