Hello, I have a chance to buy a NH 273 baler from an old farmer who is retiring. The baler has always been stored inside since new and even brought into the shed from the field every night during haying. The baler is in excellent shape and when I went to see it, we ran some hay through it and everything works great. The baler dosen"t have a thrower on it. He is asking $700 CDN. for it which would be about $570 US dollars. Is this a reasonable price? Also the machine's serial number is 124012 what year would it have been made in? Thanks for the help.

I'd say it's a good deal. I paid $800 (U.S.)for mine in similar condition. Like what RickB said, I can't find any thrower, let alone an expensive one. Parts are fairly cheap. Works very well!

If it is half as good as you describe, it is still a bargain. However, if you need a thrower, you will likely look far and wide for one to fit exactly, and it may well cost as much as the baler. Until you find one of course, after that, throwers will magically appear from nowhere for very little money.
