Not sure what make plow you want but i have made many three bottom semi mounts out of 5and 6 bottom plows , the easyist to do are the I H 's as they were made nice for cutting no drilling just unbolt the tail wheel and drop the back bottoms off remount the tail wheel shorten the coupling pole and some time ya have to slide the hitch over a bit and it is off to the field you can leave the end on or cut it off and you got spare parts for a three bottom i like the 5 bottom best for cutting down . I don't know what tractor you plan to put it on but if it will pull a three bottom drag then it will pull 4 semi mounts.

Watched 2 JD 145 3-16 got for $550 & 650 at an auction. Same auction, 4-16's didn't bring $125.

A month later I bought a JD145 3-16 for $125 had one broken coulter clamp. Felt lucky on that one, expected $300, feel I can use it a few years & double my money.

Two & 3 bottom plows bring double what a 4 or 5 bottom older (all low clearance) plow does here in southern MN.

Found that to be true here in Wisconsin. Bought a real cherry John Deere F-145 3-16 semi mount plow for $575 a while back. The 4 bottom semi mount trip beam plows were only bringing about $200-300 at the same auction. The spring auto reset plows bring a little more. Wish I could find a 3 bottom semi mount spring auto reset plow, but they seem to be scarce.

Regarding your quest for a 3 btm spring reset: If you buy an IH 720, and I assume the same goes for a 700 or 710 4 btm or bigger, the monoframe is drilled the same the entire length. You can remove the last bottom and move the tail wheel assembly forward. Don't bother to cut off the extra frame length- if the plow has a gauge wheel on it, the frame doesn't stick out beyond that, and you can always re-extend it if needed. Steering arm is also drilled to adjust to the new length.

I paid $300 for an Oliver 4-16 semi-mounted. Those are the sizes nobody wants because they're too big for their 8N and too small for their 100hp. + work horses. The one I got needed new shins, shares, & landslides, but it works great now. I'd say 3,4,&5 bottom plows will go fairly cheap, especially the older models like Oliver, IH, Case, AC, MF, Ford(some used Oliver bottoms), etc... White, JD, and DMI plows still hold their value in our area.
