Any you fellas ever use liquid lime? There is a guy who sells it near me. Also, have you ever used a sprayer to side dress corn. I have never used a sprayer to do this. My old mechanical has pooped out. Any help is appreciated.

In the early 90's when I was in grad school I worked on some corn studies looking at lime source. At issue was applying lime to rented land and the economics thereof. Landlord paid for NO lime or fert, all up to the tentant and annual leases. Soil test called for 6 tons ag lime per acre. pH in the 4's, severe stunting of the corn. We tried plots of local ag lime (RNV 50) at 6 tpi, 3 tpi, 1 tpi, long hauled ag lime (115 RNV) at 5 tpi, 3 tpi, and 1 tpi; bagged ag lime at the same rates, and pelleted lime at 2 tpi, 1 tpi, and .5 tpi. Plus an untreated check. Interesting observation..... ... there was no difference in yield response except the untreated check and at 1 tpi of local lime. Most econmical in this situation was local source at 3 tpi. All this was top dressed in a no til situation.

I use spray lime on my standing hay fields to raise ph levels. It works terrific. Couldn't see plowing under crop just to ad ag lime. Its alot more expensive than ag lime but cheaper than the cost of the amount of pel lime that would be needed. Lime that is sprayed is very fine and works faster. Use it if you need fast results if not use the ag lime for cost.

Years ago it was common to apply herbicides with liquid N (28%) as the carrier. It does whiten the corn leaves, but the color grows back.
