Time for a laugh

I know you guys and gals that have farmed all your life will get a big laugh on this one.

I just bought (accidentally as it really wasn't planned) this nice restored tractor that was all painted up pretty green. Then, also accidentally, I was rubbernecking past an implement store one day and ran across a green baler I had wanted for as long as I wanted the tractor (25 yrs).

Got everything home and had them sitting side by side and the baler looked real bad next to the tractor. Says me: I can't go to the field with that pretty tractor dragging that ugly baler behind it.

Upon close examination, it appeared that the bad looks of the baler were merely cosmetic.

SO I GOT OUT A BOTTLE OF LIQUID WAX, A COUPLE OF TERRY CLOTH RAGS AND WAXED IT. Har Har

You'd be suprised how great it looks. Can clearly see my image in it. It's obvious that this baler has been shedded for it's 25 year life as it wouldn't have shined up like it did had it been out in the weather.

Never did that before. I have sat around in my favorite garage chair and waxed philosophical about my tractors and implements though.

Well for me, as most on here, we are getting ready for the season so there's not much else to do, but get it all ready.....and we've had a lot of rain so gotta kinda stay indoors.

Glad to hear what a jewel that accident turned into. Hope you don't hurt your arm in an unfortunate waxing incident.(HA HA)

I bet it is almost a shame to use it now that it looks that pretty. Be careful in the field. If you lean against that shined up waxy baler you might slide and fall.

I have been wanting to "show off" like Allan NE (Ha Ha) does all the time, but need to get with the wife and learn how to operate her camera.

One thing I want to do is show off my green 4230 that I have taken such a ribbin for buying. Now that IS something that I'd like to keep in the shop under wraps..... .but that's not the reason I bought it; well, not the only reason.

We have one customer that waxed his new baler the day after it was deleviered. It was the first we heard of anybody waxing a baler.

Well, for what he paid for that thing new, I'd wax it too. Matter of fact, I'd put it in the barn and leave it so's nothing would happen to it. Grin,

we wax all equipment when it is sold you may think us crazy. But it makes the stuff look nice plus when you trade it back in I think it helps

If someone takes the time to wax there equipment, it also shows that they took the time operate and service it properly. It will pay off when they sell or trade it in.

Well, in my case I just bought this 25 year old thing and had just finished going through it to make sure everything was as it should be so that when hayin season is here it will make bales, not be a "hangar queen". Just seemed like the finishing touch.

Nothing wrong with keeping your equipment clean and looking good if you have the time. Wax preserves paint. Paint prevents rust. No rust means longer life/better resale value. The biggest farmer in the county here spends the winter cleaning and touching up paint, then waxing his combines, tractors grain carts, and all the rest of his equipment. That's also a good time to look over the equipment to find loose bolts, cracked welds, missing parts, ect....

Plus, now that you have a shiney baler, you can hang out with Allan! He is the master of shiney stuff!

On the wax, for what this stuff costs seems prudent that a person making a living from it would surely take care of it, but around here that's not the case.

Allan, I was TRYING to be kind, and not say such truths about yourself, but sinse you brought it up.....

Kinda like my sister..... My brother-in-law requested of their 2 children to purchase a loud speaker system for their church in her honor when they're gone....

Now my wife, on the other hand is such a wonderful.....
