The distance from the center of the PTO shaft to the top of the drawbar must be from 6 to 12 inches. The top of the rear end of the drawbar should be 12 to 17 inches from the ground. The drawbar hitch pin hole must be aligned vetically with the centerline fo the tractor power-take-off shaft. The tractor drawbar must measure 14 inches from the end of the 540 RPM PTO shaft to the hitch pin hole in the drawbar.

The equal angle hitch must be a tight fit. Shims should be placed between hitch and top of drawbar.
Tighten adjusting bolts on top and side of equal angle hitch until there is approximately 1/32" clearance between bolt and tractor drawbar. Tighten jam nuts against hitch.

The manual has a diagram to make this clearer. Part# OM-E63033 from your JD dealer.
