The baler seemed to work except for the hay pickup. I'm working on that tonight. I spun the metering wheel and the needles seemed to work. I'm not sure how to check the knotters yet since I really don't know how they work.
A question though, I only have a Ford 532 manual. I'm going to check clearances etc.. in the next week. Will they be the same for the 530??

Thanks,
Brad

Bout the only way to check the knoters is to feed in 1/3-1/2 bale and trip the knoters just like you did before by hand (or set it for very short bales). You'll need to get a couple short bales in it to get the right tension on the twine coming off the bale before you'll really know how they are working.

Make sure to keep your fingers out of the way when testing tieing. The whole process takes about 1/10 a second when running at speed and can ruin your day real fast if you are poken around in there checking them out.

Might want to ping Jerry D and see if the to models are the same. I would just about bet they are. In fact I'd just about bet my 14-80 is pretty close as well where knoters are concerned.

I have a pretty good understand how they work now. I switched to BT-130. After some frustrating attempts to bale (tied perfectly going slow but speed up and it became hit and miss) I spent 1/2 day going over each step on mine. Missed mabey 5 knots in 3000, so I can help on general terms how they should work. The trick is to have someone turn the flywheel and watch the cycle in slo-mo a couple times. Then it will begin to make perfect sence.

Each spring I run a couple bales through mine just to get the bill hooks and such all polished up and ready (sets under lean-to 6 months). So do not be discouraged if it takes several bales to get it tieing at all. It helps if they are blown off & oiled after each use and prior to being put away for the season. I have had decent results with PB blaster.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to the knotters after I fix the take up reel. It seems to be frozen solid!! I've looked down there and saw some twine jammed inbetween the reel and the bearing so I hope thats it.
Thanks again for the info.
Brad
