Alright, after taking Jerry D's advice I've canibalized another 530 and 532 baler and after greasing and lubing and turning, I think I'm ready to fire it up. I just have a couple of questions.
1. The knife plunger squeaks and groans when I manually move it forward with the flywheel. Is this normal? There is a lot of rust on the rails.
I also notice the plunger gets harder to move, then there is a pop and it frees up. Is this the hay dogs?? It seems to do it twice during the plunger cycle.

2. The Hay pickup doesn't rotate when I turn the flywheel. Should it?

I'm going to put it on the tractor tonight. I'll let you know if its a baler, or a pile of scrap metal.
Thanks,
Brad

OK I would groan and moan too if I have not been used in 10 years.... It is going to have a few of those pops and moans until it gets loosened up. The hard spots is something else because the plunger "should" never touch the dogs but has been known to happen if the metal gets a bit bent or it could be a missing bolt on the wear plates. And yes the pickup should turn, how is the belt from the drive pulley to the pickup?

Hook it to the tractor and SLOWLY start it turning. Let it run a few minutes and see if it has changed any of the sounds.
