I'm in the search for some hay wagons or running gear of any condition (well reasonable). I've found a few that haven't been used for many many years...sides are falling off and the decks are rotten in spots. No one wants to sell. I'd rather sell and see someone using them than letting them rot away. The other few I've found, wood wagons, haven't been used for years either but are still solid.. Price on those was only about $500 less than a new metal w/8 ton gears. Can someone shed some light on the subject for me?! lol

I guess it depends on the demand. I have a nice 6 ton Kasten that I sandblasted and painted the entire gear, and put a 8x16 foot flatrack on that I would like to sell. $700 would own it. I live in Central MN.

We bale several thousand bales of hay and straw every summer. It's all for sale. I use an accumulator, then a grapple to load the wagons. At that point, we shove 'em in the barn or machine sheds to set until it sells. No handling 2 or 3 times that way. Unload straight from the wagon to the customers truck or trailer. Only fly in the ointment???? I need dozens of wagons. I try to buy every decent one I see at auctions. In the last year, I've been seeing good ones go for as much as $1500, and JUNK for $400 to $500.

I hear you and I agree it is a nutty scenario on wagons. I don't know where you are in Pa., but a guy I know in Western , Pa. has a nice set of gears for $300. He also has a kicker bed for it and it is made out of rebar. I don't know what he wants , but if you are interested let me know.

Where in western pa are you located? Do you know if the gear has floaters or used truck tires? M Nut, if it weren't so far away I'd take yo up on your offer! Guess I'm just gonna have to keep checking the papers and auctions
