NH tedder/rake?

I was planning on buying a brand new 4-basket rossi tedder this spring. It is about $3000. I have a friend who has a NH tedder/rake for sale for $800. Does anyone have any experience with them? I have been told they are not worth a darn for raking but are good for tedding if you can get by with only a 10' working width as opposed to the 17' rossi 4-basket. I bale about 100-125 acres, would I be smart to save the money and buy the tedder/rake instead of the rossi 17' 4-basket?

2 years ago I bought a NH 162 4 rotor tedder for $1000. So far it has worked well. I believe that it is actually made by Kuhn in France.

It's a mediocre rake and tedder. The older 254 model had nylon bushings on the tine arms that wore out. They had grease fittings on them but the nylon wouldn't hold the fittings so most were never greased. The current 255 model has bearings on the tine arms. They won't work if turned or pulled too fast. With that much hay I would think you would want a wider 4 star tedder. $800 is cheap though if its in decent condition as they normally sell for $1500-$3000 around here.

My though is when the time is right to tedder you want to get over the crop quickly. I would lean to the 4 basket. What I have read about the NH tedder/rakes here is that the early ones had some sort of bushing trouble. If I am wrong about that there are others here that will correct me.
