The weather here in the NW is just too weird! 75 today. If we don't get some rain soon I'm not sure we will have any hay this year. But, in case we do I have another, yes another question about my baler. After 3 years with it you would think I'd be out of things to ask about. My baler has small "doors" on each side of the bale chamber. I've never screwed them in. I'm not sure what they do. Make a tighter bale? Now that I have a bit more HP I think I can tighten them up a bit which would be helpful. Sorry for the long post.

Hello. I wish we were having 75 degrees here in Pa. Man, how I long for winter to be over. I would not screw them in. HP does not control or have anything to do with how tight you can make bales. Your knotters will let you know when the bales are too tight. By the way, are sure this is a 315? I've never seen the tension gates(doors) on the side of a 315. Just curious, Steve

Yep, it's a 315. My having the only one in world is simply par for the course! It's interesting to know they are called tension gates and even more interesting to not use them. OK with me. I'll just tighten down a bit more and bale away. It was a little cooler today about 72. They say rain by Wednesday. We can sure use it. Thanks for the info.

It depends on condtions your baling. In real dry hay and especailly dry straw they are needed. Cranking up the hyd. tension doesnt do enough. I don't have "tension doors" so I add wedges in the chamber which does the same sort of thing.
