I want to plant a couple of food plots this year. Probably five 2 acre plots in central NY. As I understand it I have to plow, disc ,put down Roundup, and plant. What would you guys charge per acre where you live. I have a Ford 650 that I will Brush hog with. The fields are over grown but not to bad. Were planted a couple of years ago with cattle corn. If you want to shoot me an email thats ok too. Thanx

You would be better off to disk a fire break around each field then torch it to clean it up this also kills a lot of weed seed then turn it. As for all of your work on a 2 acre plot plowing and disking 100.00 each time and bush hogging 75.00 each time bacause travel time is also a thing to consider also you burn fuel to get there. I do gardens in the spring here and get 40.00 for a 10x20 garden and I am out in 15 minutes or less bacause I charge the same as the rental store and I supply labor to boot.

Most state extension services have annually updated bulletins showing typical charges for custom farming operations. I know Iowa http://www.exnet.iastate.edu/ and Missouri http://muextension.missouri.edu/xplor/agguides/agengin/#Farm Machinery do.

Round up doesn't do anything for bare ground. It only kills what living plants it hits. It has no residual either.

I think about $25 dollars and acre plus fuel to plow crop land in CNY. Good luck getting a custom operator to be interested in ten acres. Not enough to show up for. So you will probably have to pay more.

Does that include the planting of the clover or alfalfa? ( I pay the cost of the seed)? Does it need to be disced or just plowed? Their are some local farmers nearby and I just would like a rough idea before I talk to these guys. Thanx

That would be just to plow. Fitting and planting anything after plowing is your job or extra.
If you want to establish a seeding, You can have it sprayed with roundup and have it no tilled into the dead sod. Fitting that old sod after plowing will take some time.
