Steve,

I have a NH 408 Discbine S/N 851541 that I need to replace the conditioner rolls on. When I ordered the new parts - rolls, bearings, etc. from my local CNH dealer, their mechanic stated he thought the new rolls won"t fit in the old bearing housings and I would probably need them as well, at a cost of over $500.

The parts manual for the 408 (both the computer version and the printed version) mentions nothing about this update. The 411 parts manual does mention the update in the footnotes. The parts man called the tech line at CNH, and they couldn"t give us a straight answer.

Do I need the housings? If so, can the old ones be modified to fit? I have a lathe, Bridgeport, etc. at my shop.

Any help will be appreciated.

Scott, Rick is right. No change for the 408. I suspect the man who told you about the housing change got mixed up with the 411. But you are good to go. Steve

I don't see anything that makes me think you need new bearing housings. 411 would be a different story depending on S/N.
