I got a IH 241 round bailer off ebay. how good were they.

Thats a subjective question. In the 70's they were about as good as any other big baler at the time.
When the hay is right they make good tight bales and use very little HP to do it. They can be fussy if the hay is not right. To dry or too wet and you get feeding problems.
Guys that are using them now use them because they are cheap to buy,Cheap to run,easy to fix and can run it with a old tractor.
Good for a hobby farmer not doing a lot of bales 100 or so.

Most farmers you ask will bust a gut when you ask about the IH241. Thats because they are in the hay business. Time is money, they use more up to date stuff.
You can sure buy better for $3500 but I challenge any one to find a baler for $300 to $500 that will do what a 241 can.

I have one
They are not very good and quite old - but I do little things in my own inventive way to get things running OK on it - i had mediocre luck last year - should have better luck next year - also got a square baler now

what do you want to know - what did u pay for it - they are a bout a $300 baler usually
