New Toy - NH 495 Haybine

Well we have a new toy here at Lazy J Farms, a nice NH 495 Haybine. My son and I made the 200 mile trek from Perry to Dyersville on Saturday and made the purchase. We got a good deal and look forward to getting it in the field. I will post photos when I finally get it home.

Jim, I had 2 495"s before I quit farming. The first one was wore out before we bought it. The second one a neighbor traded in so I traded for it. I got a new sicle with the self sharpining sections, and new guards in the deal. I used it 4 years before I had to pull the sycle, avj. about 350 acres a year. Iloved the 12 ft, I pulled a 260 and a 258 rakes behind it. I sold it to my Brother in law. Remember to not truck it with the front end down hill because it will fall over on it"s nose. I don"t know what you are going to pull it with, I pulled it mostly with a Farmall 756, 544 and 460 some 460 wasn"t bad but the 544 was a little light.

Thanks for the comments. Luckily all of our hay fields are right around the house so we probably won't do much trucking, except for some custom work. We will be pulling it with either a 3020, 856, or 4230, depending upon what is available.
